Happy 6th Grade Promotion Avery!

Before I get to yesterday's festivities, I want to share the card I made for Avery's other teacher (he had two this year). Avery really wanted the image to be something that Mr. Ortiz would like. The only thing he knew for sure is that Mr. Ortiz likes to bike. Well, Riley is the only stamp I have with a bicycle image, so that's what we ended up with! Avery was very happy because he loves Riley stamps.

I used Jen's June 6th Sketch for You to Try. Again, I minimized embellishments because this is for a guy. The paper does all the talking, don't you think? I believe it's from Little Yellow Bicycle (came in a kit). The stripped narrow panel is actually from a Gina K set called Ribbon Stripes stamped on Gina's digital paper called Summer Fabrics... a free download on Stamp TV!

I used Smooch Silver to color the silver parts of the bike. That stuff is cool! The rest is colored with my Copics. I didn't get the shading I wanted with Riley, but had to call it good because it was getting late.

I know it doesn't look much like a teacher card on the outside, but I put a nice verse on the inside from Papertrey Ink's Teacher's Apple stamp set.

Avery is now officially out of grade school, and there will be no more Hjulberg boys attending Taft Elementary School. How will the school cope? {LOL} I have to admit I was feeling a bit nostalgic yesterday. When we moved into our home 19 1/2 years ago, the school was still under construction. So many memories. But mostly, such a keen recognition of the passing of time... the end of an era. It's okay, though. A new chapter is ahead, full of surprises and good times.

Here's a picture of Avery shaking hands with Mr. Ortiz and his other teacher Mr. Plewe (see the tie!) after he'd received his promotion certificate. He also receive a certificate for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, which was totally unexpected. I was so taken off guard, I didn't have my camera ready and totally missed that shot!

And here's a shot of Paul, Avery and I.

Okay, my friends, I've got to get off this darn computer. I've been on all morning, and Paul is starting to despair of me. Chores await.

Have a wonderful day!

Awww...love the picture of you and DS and DH. Your men are quite handsome! Tell DH that all the internet ladies are drooling and he won't ever mind your playing on the computer! Lol....

LOVED your Riley card! I have my first Riley stamps on their way, but they aren't here yet.

Shower is OVER and done with! It went so well. Had several folks want to 'hire' me for upcoming events, so I guess it was a success!

Great card girl!!! Love Little Yellow Bicycle stuff!

Fabulous card Lisa, I'm sure both his teachers LOVED their homemade cards - but I must admit to loving the pics of you and family! You all look soo happy - and what a clever young man it seems you have!! He'll be on to bigger and better things - so much awaits!!
I can't tell for sure because Paul has glasses on, but I think Avery looks a lot like his mum!
Best get off to my chores now too - although Richard had a sleep in so I snuck in extra computer time - LOL

AWWW, I love the photo of you, Paul and Avery!! You have some handsome men in your life... :) Avery looks very proud and happy just like his Mom and Dad!! I bet every time you look at the school you will always remember the boys first days of school and last ones!!

Now on to your super, stunning, darling and masculine card!! Love Riley and the DP's... you always put colors in perfect harmony!

I did pick out my new Verve stamps and I decided on FLORAL SYMPHONY! It was a $15 set, but I've ALWAYS eyed it. FUN! Can't wait to play.. I'm catching up on blogging tonight. The past 3 days have been busy! Mark and I have been working on the utility shed; Alex was out to the house, grad parties, etc. Have a super stampin' evening Lisa... HUGS! Michelle :)

LOL--you're too funny! CONGRATS AVERY!!! Wow...how exciting!

My Carly will go through 5th grade graduation next year. Our Middle School is 6-8th grade, so our 5th graders have a graduation. They also get to take a big trip to the Oregon Zoo (2 1/2 hours away) and take a tour of the Middle School AND they get to stay the night in the Middle School!! That's awesome.

Anyway, Your Avery is so handsome ;) Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. You look fabulous too!!

OH, I have a blog award for you on my blog today! I hope it blesses you as it did me. Have a great Sunday!

Love and Hugs,
Kristine

I was blurfing and found blog surfed myself here! I think that's the classiest I've ever seen Riley look! Love the colors and I also love PTI's teacher set (even though, somehow it didn't end up on any of my teacher cards! :>). Congrats on your tyke graduating from grade school and with honors to boot! :>
