Hope Rekindled

Happy Friday! It's time for another fabulous Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge!!! You can find us over at Splitcoaststampers in the Taylored Expressions Forum. In fact, all you need to do is pop over to the TESC Sketch Challenge #148 Forum Thread for all the deets on this week's challenge, to grab the sketch and find out how you can win a $10 Gift Certificate to spend at TE by playing along with us... or a $20 GC if you use TE stamps!

You may know that Splitcoaststampers is currently hosting a card drive called Hope You Can Cling To for breast cancer awareness month. Taylored Expressions is a proud sponsor of the event for the month of October. Starting October 1st, SCS will have a new challenge every day to create cards for patients at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. So we're showing our support for the card drive with our sketch cards during the month of October. Taylor issued the additional challenge to the Sketch Crew to make a card of encouragement with the predominant color pink (although you certainly do not need to do that).

Here's the specific info from SCS about the HYCCT Challenges.  Your TESC sketch cards can be combined with any one posted HYYCT Challenge.
1. All Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Entries must be uploaded to the Hope You Can Cling To Gallery, with the specific challenge keyword, no later than November 7th, 2010 at 12:00 Noon Central time to be eligible for our fabulous prizes! Post a link to your entry in this thread.
2. You may not combine HYCC challenges, but you are welcome to create multiple cards for each challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
4. Please package all challenge entries with an envelope, protected with a clear plastic bag and mail them to our partner at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center to benefit patients being treated for breast cancer and their families (address below). SCS would like for them to receive cards throughout the month of October, but understand if you'd like to mail all your cards at once.
5. Since these cards will be used by visitors for patients, most should be blank inside, but feel free to send cards with messages of hope for the patients in addition to your challenge cards!

(Please note - because MD Anderson is part of the State of Texas, they ask that no religious sentiments be used on cards sent to the Cancer Center.)

Unfortunately, I did not read the "fine print" directly above before making my card, so I guess I can't send it in since it mentions prayers. In fact, the full sentiment (which is a bit hard to read in the photo) is "Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons do not last. The spring rain will come again." -Sarah Ban-Breathnach.

As a Christian, I find it sad that they won't accept cards with religious sentiments. To me, the only HOPE is through Jesus Christ our Lord. But I still think it's nice to send cards of encouragement for those facing this awful trial... and I believe many of those who pick up the cards to write messages to patients will include scriptures and religious sentiments!

The sentiment and flourish are from the Faith & Hope stamp set by Taylored Expressions, paired with patterned paper and embellishment from the Sidewalk collection by October Afternoon.
For lots of great inspiration, check out what the rest of the Sketch Crew has created!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!

I couldn't agree more about not accepting Christian cards, Lisa! The first thing I think of when looking for hope is our Lord, and the hope He brings. Your card is absolutely perfect! It's certainly a card I would want to receive :)
