Birdhouses!

Hey there! This is something I made up quickly for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #12. Whew, I barely made it on time thanks to my son hogging the computer (ha!). I've been wanting to try one of her color challenges for awhile, but never seem to get my cards made on time. There's that pesky little detail about working full time...

Anyway, I love Dawn's work and her cool color combos are something she is known for. I did stick mainly to Papertrey Ink colors (Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, Scarlett Jewel and Vintage Cream), which happened to match perfectly with Basic Grey's Lemonade DP. The stamp is from the Bird Watching set designed by Melissa Bickford for Papertrey Ink. Love it! Although I don't think I did it justice. For one, I was having problems with Copic marker bleed on the cream paper. And, for another, I was in a hurry, and I'm not a very good speed stamper. But there you have it!

I tried to make the birdhouses look weathered by using my Copic Blender pen to remove some color. The strip behind the image was punched with an EK Success border punch. I'm not sure what it's called, but it's one of those thin flat punches that locks down flat for easier storage.

Well, I must dash and get a couple of things done this evening. I hope you have a great night (or day, depending on when you read this). Stay tuned for tomorrow's post feature Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Christmas in July!

Cute card and nice use of the colors. Love that patterned paper! (I agree -- those jobs certainly do get in the way sometimes! How can be expected to go to work in the morning after a night of playing with stamps and ink??)
