Challenge for a Sunday Afternoon Annoucements

Hi all! Just popping in to announce the winner of the Challenge for a Sunday Afternoon: Cat Darling with this cute card! What a clever idea to have a mermaid dreaming of shoes... reminds me of The Little Mermaid, one of my favorite Disney flicks. And I love Cat's name, which reminds me of another favorite Disney move, Lady and The Tramp... or was it 101 Dalmations? Yikes, I'm have a senior moment. Anyway, in one of those movies, the couples' last name is Darling.

Edited to add: Cat reminded me that Darling is the last name of Wendy's family in Peter Pan! And Stephanie reminded me that Jim Dear and Darling are the humans' names in Lady & The Tramp (so I wasn't too far off!).

Anyhoo, congratulations Cat! Email me your address and I'll get your prize right off to you!

I also want to thank each one of you who played in my three challenges. I'm going to suspend the weekly challenge for now given my new DT post with La-La Land Crafts. We'll be hosting challenges there and, of course, there's always The Sweet Stop sketch challenge. I want to put my best effort towards those. I may bring an improved version of the challenge back in the future, you never know!

I'll be back later with a new card to share, so stay tuned!

Really BIG News!!!!

I cannot believe I'm announcing this... it's still like a dream to me... but I'm one of the six LUCKY ladies to be chosen for the inaugural Design Team for La-La Land Crafts! OMGosh, can you say excited??? I've been on Cloud 9 ever since Irina emailed me!

La-La Land Crafts will open for business on Wednesday, August 12th at 11:00 pm PST (GMT -8). There is a Private Event at Stamp On Over at the Cranberry Hill Mercantile in Sunnyvale, CA from 6:00 to 9:00 pm if you're lucky enough to be in the area.

And just wait until you see the stamps! You will definitely fall in love at first sight, just like I did. Be sure to click over to the La-Land Crafts Blog and read through Irina's posts to find out more about La-La Land Crafts and the talented artists behind these wonderful stamps. You just might find a few sneak peeks there, too (*grin*). Oh, and while you're there, be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win some awesome blog candy!

I'll be back soon with my first posts for La-La Land Crafts, so stay tuned! In the meantime, did I happen to mention how lucky I am??? (*smile*)

Maggie at the Beach

In a recent blog surfing adventure, I discovered Digital Delights by Louby Lou (thanks Heather!). And guess what! They offer a freebie every Friday (aptly called "Freebie Friday"). This darling image, called "Beach Maggie." was the freebie for Friday, July 24th (I think that's the right day). I couldn't resist downloading her. She looked like she'd be fun to color, and she was. You can buy her for $2!

I also decided to use Beach Maggie to play in the Delightful Sketches challenge... Sketch #3. Trouble is, when it said cards were due at midnight on August 6th, I thought that meant tonight at midnight. Turns out, midnight starts a new day (did you know that?), so I'm 19 hours late! Oh well. It was still a fun sketch and a fun image. I'm going to have to try again with Sketch #4. This week's Freebie is pretty cute, too... a bookworm... which I once was before I got so caught up in papercrafting. Now it seems all I read are blog posts! LOL

Ah well, it's all good.

Anyway, back to my card. Maggie is colored with Copics. The DP is from a Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients kit. Looks like this kit is sold out. They go like hotcakes, don't you know. The ribbon and flower rhinestone were also part of the kit. The umbrella is a K&Company Grand Adhesions. And, yes, in the tradition of my BBFF Michelle, I used my CB folder to emboss the aqua strip.

Speaking of the beach, we have got to get down to there one of these days soon! The summer is almost over and we haven't gone yet. Shame on us! We only live about an hour away.

Don't forget, there is still time to play in my Challenge for a Sunday Afternoon. The challenge this week is to make a "thinking bubble" card. The prize up for grabs is a Basic Grey June Bug 6 x 6 paper pack. Your odds of winning are pretty darn good!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back soon with more to share. Have a great evening!

Coming Soon: La-La Land Crafts!

I was just visiting my BBFF Patti J's blog where I read about this new craft store... La-La Land Crafts... opening up in the Bay Area (at the Cranberry Hill Mercantile in Sunnyvale, to be exact)... and on line... on August 12th. From the tiny peeks shown on the La-La Land Crafts Blog the stamp lines Irina will be carrying are adorable!!! I can't wait to see them all! And don't you think that's the cutest name for a craft store? My mom always said my dad lived in La-La Land. I think my husband lives there, too. I wanna go!!!

Irina is holding a DT call, so click on over to her blog for more information. It looks like she's quite generous with blog candy, so I'd become a follower of hers if I were you (*wink*). I hope you win if I don't! LOL

I'm off to finish up some cards and will be back tomorrow to share. Have a great evening!

Relax!

Relax! That sounds good, doesn't it? It also happens to be my husband's pat answer for everything; translation: "don't bug me!" Ha!

I love this week's sketch at The Sweet Stop. Lately I'm attracted to square cards as opposed to the more customary A4 size because there's more room to work. More is better, right? Well, not always, but in this case, I like it!

I couldn't wait to give Olivia the Owl a try. This darling image is from the Sweet Dreams stamp set by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. Her belly and night cap just begged to be paper pieced... kinda like she's wearing her jammies. The DP is from Cosmo Cricket, perfect for an outdoorsey scene like this. I threw in some hand stitching for good measure. My fellow DT member Nancy is a dab hand at stitching and has inspired me with her beautiful works of art.

Attention stamp lovers!!! Do I have your attention? Are you listening? Are you? Really? Because I have some great news: Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps has discounted all stamp sets and digi stamps by 25%!!! And that's not all! SNSS is offering US First Class mail as a shipping option to save you even more money!!!

So what are you waiting for! Grab some of these cute stamps as fast as you can!!! And while you're at it, join us each week for The Sweet Stop sketch challenge. A new sketch is posted every Saturday.

Well, I'm off to do something, even if it's wrong (as my dear mother used to say). I'll be back soon with more to share. In the meantime, think positive thoughts and have a great day!

And don't forget my Challenge for a Sunday Afternoon! Remember, you can combine my challenge with any other challenge(s) and there's always a prize up for grabs!

Inky Impressions 2nd Design Team Call

Inky Impressions is having its Second Design Team Call. I had so much fun coloring up Lili and Angelica, that I decided to throw my hat in the ring! Now that I've given those adorable images a try, there's no turning back!

You'll remember this card, which I posted yesterday. I'm officially submitting it as my entry for the DT call.

The DT call also requires a favorite non-card project. Well, I have to confess that except for this little purse, I haven't done any stamp related non-card projects in awhile. So, I sat down last evening and put this card holder together using a pattern by Andrea Walford.

Isn't it cute? I've put a couple of cards inside to show how it looks, but I plan to make a set of Lili and Angelica cards to fill this up and give it as a gift. When I have those cards ready, I'll definitely share them with you on my blog.

If you love to color sweet images, you should definitely give Inky Impressions stamps a try! They are too cute for words. There is also a challenge blog to add to the fun. I'm definitely going to play this Wednesday, that's for sure. For more inspiration, check out Kristine's creations. She's the one who convinced me that I had to have these stamps! LOL

Thanks for stopping by to visit today. I hope you'll remember to play in my Challenge For A Sunday Afternoon. This week's prize is a Basic Grey 6 x 6 June Bug paper pack!

Have a great day!

Inky Impressions and Challenge for a Sunday Afternoon

Happy Sunday! My friend Kristine is a Design Team member for Inky Impressions, a fairly new stamp company that makes these adorable images called Lili and Angelica. They are so darn cute!!! I just LOVE all the great cards and projects I've seen Kristine make with these images, so I had to give them a try.

Lili and Angelica are colored with my Copics. I drew a "thinking bubble" around Lili's face with a Sharpie and cut it out. Angelica is thinking of her good friend Lili and missing her terribly!

The DP is from the Early Bird collection by Cosmo Cricket (love, love, love!). The cardstock is Summer Sunrise from Papertrey Ink, and Basic Black and Kiwi Kiss (retired) from Stampin Up. I used my Marvy flower punches and then crinkled the paper before fastening them together with a Stampin Up Build-a-Brad. I also used my black Sharpie to create the "border" for the Hodgepodge Hardware label holder.

I thought it was fun making a "thinking bubble" card, and I can think of lots of combinations of stamps you could use to create the same sort of card. So, for today's Challenge for a Sunday Afternoon, I'm challenging you to make a "thinking bubble" card. Use Mister Linky below to link your card to this post. The deadline is Saturday, August 8th at 10:00 pm PST (GMT -8).

The prize up for grabs for this week's winner is a Basic Grey June Bug 6 x 6 paper pad! Everyone is welcome to play!

And, finally, without further ado, the winner of last week's Challenge for a Sunday afternoon is Sarah! Be sure to scroll down in her blog to July 29th's post to see her cute card. Sarah, please email me your address and I'll post your prize directly! (My email is on the left sidebar of my blog.)

I sincerely thank each of you who played last week, and I hope to see more participate this week. I don't mind at all if you combine my challenge with another (or others), as I know there are so many to choose from.

Have a fun rest of the day, and I'll be back soon with another Inky Impressions project to share.

Anyaversary Blog Hop!!!

Today is The Greeting Farm's First Birthday, and they are celebrating in a big way!!! Not only are there lots (I think 8) new releases, but also a MEGA Blog Hop. The list of participating blogs is posted on the Club Anya blog and on The Greeting Farm blog, so be sure to check in there and then hop, hop, hop around to see some awesome and inspiring eye candy! They promise that there are surprises to be had throughout the day, so don't miss it!

The Blog Hop challenge was to make a birthday card, layout or 3D project using any TGF stamp. For my card I used Teacher Anya...I cut the apple out of her hand and used a cute cupcake brad instead. The cardstock, DP and brads are all from the Taylored Expressions Cupcakes Key Ingredient Kit. I colored Anya with my Copics (of course). I also followed the Mojo Monday Week 97 Sketch.

I know a little girl who is turning 5 this month. I think I'm going to save this card for her!

Before you hop on to the next blog, check this out:

Yep, it's true!!! I was one of the grand prize winners!!! I've been on Cloud 9 ever since I found out yesterday morning. It's like winning the stamping lottery!!!

And this is what I won:

The Grand Prize:
Entire Aug Birthday release!!!
1 Dirty Rodeo paper pack
1 Sunny Glen paper pack
• Your choice 5 Anya single stamps
• Your choice 5 Ian single stamps
• Your choice 5 full stamp sets

Unbelievable. I'm still pinching myself. I'm in stamping heaven, that's for sure! And I can't thank Marie enough for this wonderful prize package. I love her stamps, I love her blog, I love everything about The Greeting Farm and Club Anya!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit today! And don't forget my Challenge for a Sunday Afternoon. There's still time to play!
