A blessed Sunday to you! This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Our hostess for this week's challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ is our very dear Rebekka Reed.
Rebekka chose as her inspiration scripture Psalm 9:10 "Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." Her challenge is "things that secure" - use buttons, no less than three, on your card/project.
I confess, I struggled with this card... things kept going wrong, but the thought of starting over was daunting... I just didn't feel like it. I sat and stared at it for hours (okay, I was also watching TV). I tried to figure out what was missing, how I could make it look better, felt frustrated that her hair didn't turn out with enough highlights, fiddled with the shading which is the wrong color, tried various embellishments and tossed them aside. And then I smudged it. And then I forgot that I was supposed to use three buttons. Something that should have been fun turned into stress. Worry worry worry.
I'm not telling you this to fish for compliments, but rather to draw a parallel to today's scripture. How often do we struggle with something, worry over it, pick it apart, examine it too closely, drive ourselves crazy with self-doubt? I'm ashamed to raise my hand. I do this far too often. My excessive worry makes me sick at heart and soul.
This past week, I was reminded of Matthew 8:25-34, which begins, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life..." So why do we worry? We're human, of course. Don't add to your burdens by feeling badly about worrying. Instead, when you find yourself worrying too much, to the point of distraction... or even of indecision and inaction... remember David's words and rest in the knowledge that the Lord will never forsake those who seek Him. He is with you. He cares for you. He will carry your burdens if you let him. Read Matthew 8:25-34 and Psalm 9 and take comfort. The Lord your God is with you in all things.
A quick note about my card... that sweet image is Willow's Hot Chicken Soup by Whiff of Joy, our challenge sponsor this week. The vertical greeting is from So Random Sentiments by Claudia & Company. I followed the fun color challenge at The Play Date Cafe, pairing Pacific Point and Tangerine Tango cardstock from SU with patterned paper by October Afternoon and a flower embellie by Basic Grey (Max & Whiskers). Notice I had to tuck two buttons into the flower so that my card would meet the SSIC challenge. Hopefully they sort of look like leaves. (*grin*)
I hope you'll come along and play with us this week. Be sure to stop by the Stampin' Sisters in Christ blog to read Rebekka's devotional on her inspiration scripture and see the wonderful cards created by our design team featuring buttons. You will be blessed!
Oh, and don't forget to vote in my survey... just a quick click in the right-hand column of my blog. Thanks! Have a blessed day!

Sweet Tilda
Happy Saturday! Time for another great sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday!
I turned the sketch on its side so that adorable Tilda With Hawaii Flower by Magnolia would fit. She's part of the new Butterfly Dreams collection. LOVE!!! I paired her with patterned paper from the Kioshi collection by Basic Grey. That gorgeous flower is from the Gardenia Patch collection by Magnolia-licious... thank you Diana!
I hope you'll come along and play with us this week. It's a fun sketch! Our sponsor is The Craft Barn. There's oodles of inspiration on the Sketch Saturday blog, so be sure to stop by and take a peek!
Have a wonderful day! Oh, and don't forget to vote in my survey located in the right column of my blog! It'll just take two shakes. Thanks!

Sugar 'n Spice Marci... and a Survey!
Well, this is a rather late Friday post, isn't it? I confess I haven't felt myself the past couple of days... been a bit under the weather and I'm only today finding a bit of energy to get back to "normal," whatever that is! lol The washing machine is going full tilt, so I guess that's a sign. (*grin*)
One thing that makes me happy is coloring up sweet Marci. Is she not the cutest thing? This is Sugar 'n Spice Marci from La-La Land Crafts. Pairing her with patterned paper from the Modern Homemaker collection by October Afternoon was a natural fit!
I've loosely followed Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #105. I sat down to do the math to figure out the sizes of the squares to cut my paper, but my brain got tired (ha). I gave up and used patterned paper with squares built in instead. I'm terrible, I know. :) That cool ruffled edge was made with my Magnolia DooHickey die called Antique Lace which I love love love!
Okay, so I've got a little survey going on here on the right sidebar of my blog (for those reading this by email or RSS feed). Please take a moment to pop in and vote for the item you'd love to win. There's a very good reason I'm wondering, and all will be revealed soon!
Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back soon with Sketch Saturday!

Taylored Expressions Blast From The Past Blog Hop!
Yay, it's one of my favorite times of the month... time for the Taylored Expressions Blast From The Past Blog Hop! The theme this month is Going Green!
Once again, the wonderful Sankari Wegman has created a great sketch for us to play with.
Here's what I've come up with:
My card features images from the Discover Your Wings stamp set... a true classic! I've paired them with the gorgeous green patterned paper and coordinating brads from the February Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Kit. This month's kit is truly versatile, featuring five color choices from the Lush collection by My Mind's Eye. There's still time to subscribe and get this month's kit. You'll find all the deets right here!
Enjoy the hop!

Cameo Rose
A blessed Sunday to you! This is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Our challenge hostess this week at Stampin Sisters in Christ is my good friend Peggysue Turner. She chose as her inspiration scripture Exodus 8:9-11 "Moses said to Pharaoh, 'I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.' 'Tomorrow," Pharaoh said. Moses replied, 'It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God, The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile." Her challenge is to use the color green in your card/project.
I had never heard this verse before. Taken on its own, it doesn't make much sense. You need to read Exodus 8:1-15, called The Plague of Frogs for the whole story. I'm not enough of a Bible scholar to even begin to put this passage in context for you, much less write a devotional on it. This does, however, reinforce my pledge to read the entire Bible. I've had that goal for a long time, but I just can't seem to get started. Isn't that always the case? We all have good intentions, don't we? My mom always said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. If so, then I'm well on my way!
Here's something that has occurred to me, though... don't let the Lord have to clobber you over the head with plague after plague to get your attention and make a believer of you. It doesn't need to be that hard. And here's another... when the going gets tough, that's when you really have to put your faith where your mouth is. I'm struggling with that very thing right now. It's easy to praise God when things are going well, isn't it? But not so much when the tides are turned. But it's then that we need to cling to God's promises and the Lord's teachings more than ever.
A quick word about my card. I played in this month's Sketch for You to Try. It seemed the perfect layout for this sweet image called Cameo Rose from the Spring Sampler 2011 stamp set by Elisabeth Bell for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. I've fallen for these sweet images hook, line and sinker! The patterned paper is from the Springtime Vintage collection by Stampin' Up.
I hope you'll join us in this week's challenge. Doodle Pantry is our sponsor. I think you'll be blessed by your fellowship with us. Be sure to stop by the SSIC blog to read Peggysue's devotional on her inspiration scripture and to behold what the rest of the design team ladies have created. I encourage you to also visit their blogs for lots more inspiration and blessings.
I'll end this post with a shameless plug... don't forget to check my eBay auctions and help me with my spring cleaning! If you're a fan of Stampin' Up, there are some good bargains... but they're going fast. About half are already sold. They need some love in new homes!
Thanks for stopping by. Have a blessed day!

Chef Marci!
Happy Saturday! Time for another FABULOUS sketch challenge at Sketch Saturday!!!
Our sponsor this week is Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps with prize of a $10 Gift Certificate up for grabs!
I love all the layers Jo puts in her sketches, and this one is no exception. Fun! My card features Chef Marci by La-La Land Crafts, which is currently available in digi, but will soon be released in rubber! I paired her with patterned papers from the Modern Homemaker collection by October Afternoon. The measuring spoon charm, which I've used in lieu of a sentiment, is by Karen Foster Designs. I do believe that cake looks good enough to eat!
I hope you'll join us for this week's sketch! Be sure to drop by the Sketch Saturday blog to see what the rest of the uber-talented design team ladies have come up with. You're sure to be delighted!
Now, out to the garage I go... we're doing a major clean-out this weekend, despite the rain and cold. This is the only weekend Paul will be in town for awhile, so I ordered a dumpster and now we're all cleaning out our respective rooms. I just wish it weren't so darn cold outside today. But I can't dis my favorite kind of winter weather. The sound you hear are my chattering teeth...
Hugs!

Clearing Out My Stash!
Hey everyone, even though it's pouring rain right now and it's still Winter, I'm in a spring cleaning sort of mood... time to clear out some of my stash! I've got several Stampin' Up stamp sets up for sale right now on eBay and they're going fast! I started loading them into eBay last night and finished tonight...many sold just as fast as I could list them. As of this writing, one-third have already found new homes! If you're interested, you can find my auctions HERE.
In the next few days I will also set up a page right here on my blog to clear out MANY familiar stamp brands... Unity, Pink Cat Studio, Gina K, CC Designs, Verve, Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, Paper Pretties, Hero Arts... the list goes on. It's an embarrassment of riches that I have... many have never seen ink (yikes, did I just admit that out loud?) and it's time to let them go to a new home where they will get some LOVE! So check back soon! I'll make another announcement when the page is ready to go. In the meantime, if you love SU, check out eBay!
Thanks!!!

Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz!
Yee haw, it's time for our Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Waltz! Our theme this month is Designing With Buttons. I love buttons! I can't wait to see what everyone's created. Here's mine:
My card features images from Frame It and Teeny Trees, two "must-have" stamp sets. (*grin*) They're versatile and easy to design with. The mat behind the image panel is a piece of burlap... I have Carly Robertson to thank for the idea of using burlap. Thanks Carly!
We're playing a game today, giving one lucky person a chance to win a stamp set of choice from Waltzingmouse Stamps... all you have to do is guess the theme of two of the newest stamp sets to be released on March 1st! And you don't have to be one of the waltz participants to play... anyone can join in! All you need is access to the Waltzingmouse Forum, which is quick and easy! Waltz around and pick up the clues from the Design Team blogs (there's one clue here in my post) and then lodge your guess in the February Friends of Waltzingmouse Stamps Chat Thread... it's as easy (and enjoyable) as that! The competition runs until 11:59 pm Eastern on Saturday February 19th.
Now on you go to continue the waltz. Enjoy!!!

Sending Butterfly Kisses
A blessed Sunday to you! This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
My dear friend Patti J Gilliam is our challenge hostess this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ. Patti chose as her inspiration scripture Hebrews 13:5 "Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.'" Since it's Valentine's Week, Patti's challenge is to make a KISS Card (Keep it simple, Sisters!) - a one-layer card.
I took the challenge literally, thinking it a great opportunity for me to practice my coloring skills while trying to emulate the beautiful work done by Sherrie Siemens. I saw Sherrie at the Copic booth at CHA once again this year and never cease to marvel over her coloring skills, especially with the cute Pure Innocence images. Plus, she is the SWEETEST person.
I CASEd Sherrie's coloring of Butterfly Kisses shown on her blog here. Obviously I still need some practice, especially with shadowing and feathering, but it's a start. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Thank you Sherrie!
Tip: if you want to use your Copics on a single layer card like mine then you need Gina K's Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight cardstock. The Copics don't bleed through.
Today's scripture resonates with me. I used to envy the gorgeous homes and fine cars some of my wealthier friends have until I nearly lost my own home. They say you never know what you have until you lose it, but I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to go that far for you to take a step back. If you find yourself constantly wishing you had what someone else does, or more than what you do have, then stop to consider what you'd do if you didn't have what you have. Other folks probably envy you! And most importantly, when you aren't satisfied with what you have and are always longing for something more, you're missing out on enjoying the many blessings you do have. Right there is probably the key to many people's unhappiness... always wishing they had something else besides what they do have, thinking the grass is greener somewhere else.
Please please don't go on a guilt trip about what you have or what you wish you had. There's nothing wrong with striving for more in your life. But I'm pretty sure you'll be happier if you were to count your blessings... truly revel in them. And if you find yourself obsessing over what you don't have, then you've created an impossibly unhappy situation for yourself.
What God is telling us in this scripture is that his love for us, his presence in our lives, his promises to us are greater than anything money can buy.
I encourage you to come and play with us this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ. Be sure to stop by our blog to see what the rest of the design team have created for your inspiration... and visit their blogs. I promise you will be blessed!

My Story...
Happy Saturday! It's time for a new sketch challenge from Sketch Saturday!!!
Our sponsor this week is the fabulous Simon Says Stamp!!! The prize is a $25 Gift Certificate!!!
I decided to flip the sketch upside down for this sweet image called Letter to a Friend by Elisabeth Bell for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. I have to confess I've fallen in love with Elisabeth Bell's art and look forward to having more time to play with these wonderful images while I practice my Copic coloring. :)
The patterned paper and cardstock stickers are from the Seaside collection by October Afternoon which I sponged a bit with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain distress ink. I hope you likey!
Be sure to pop by the Sketch Saturday blog to see what the rest of the lovely design team members have created with this week's sketch! And why not join us? You'll be glad you did!
Have a wonderful day!
Note: this is my second post for today. Please scroll down for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Thanks!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #34
Good day to you! It's Saturday and I'm channeling Sarah Martina Parker and Mona Pendleton for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! lol Not very well, of course, but it's a start!
Yes, it's time for another fabby sketch at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and have I got news for you! From now on, the weekly prize will be a stamp set of choice from Waltzingmouse Stamps! Yes, you heard me right... a stamp set of choice! If you haven't joined us before, what are you waiting for! lol
My card features the ever popular Very Vintage Labels No. 10, one of many Spellbinders compatible stamp sets offered by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The little tag features a sentiment from Asian Gardens Additions.
Sadly, I am in need of a sympathy card... my uncle recently passed due to complications from diabetes. For those of you who might remember, this was the uncle to whom my sister donated a kidney about ten years ago. Thanks to her, he had another decade to live and love. He soon after married his dialysis nurse. I know she's devastated by his passing. I'm sad for her and for my dad, who has lost his youngest brother.
Anyway, back to happier things... the patterned paper and ribbon blooms are from Websters pages. I layered some wrinkled ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique and a beautiful butterfly from my friend Kristine (thanks Kris!) over the blooms. I gave the edges of the patterned paper a swipe or two with a Ranger Adirondack Snow White Paint Dabber and then did a bit of stitching at the top and bottom of my card.
I hope you'll come along and play with us this week. Be sure to pop by the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog to see the truly wonderful inspiration from our Mischief Makers and a few of the WMS design team. I promise you will be delighted!
Have a fabby day!

I hope you'll come along and play with us this week. Be sure to pop by the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog to see the truly wonderful inspiration from our Mischief Makers and a few of the WMS design team. I promise you will be delighted!
Have a fabby day!

February Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Kit Release!
Hi all! Happy Friday! I'm popping in to share with you some goodies I made with this month's Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Kit. Every month when my kit arrives I think "this one's my favorite!" And of course it always is (*grin*). That's because Taylor pulls together fun patterned papers, coordinating cardstock and ribbon, and wonderful embellies that make card-making and other paper crafting projects a breeze!
For example, here are three note cards I made in no time at all! Each is 3 1/2" square.
The pink and green cards feature images from the Friendship Blooms stamp set, which I cut out with the coordinating dies Leafy Branch Die and Friendship Bloom Dies. I love love love coordinating dies! The images are stamped in Maroon and Dark Moss Colorbox Chalk Ink. The smooth coverage of chalk inks is wonderful!
The third card shows how easy it is to make cards without stamping using elements from the Key Ingredients Kits!
Tip: I cut the prongs off of the brad and then glued it to the bow. Oh, and I LOVE the velvet texture of this patterned paper and the coordinating ribbon. Yum!
Remember, if you're already a subscriber, then your February kit will be on its way to your doorstep on the 15th. And in the meantime, you can place orders for 10% plus free shipping at the TE Store! You should have received your subscriber discount email already with your special coupon code. A few more things to remember:
1. You can find all of the February coordinating products HERE. This is a great way to get extra mileage out of your kit while knowing that everything will still match beautifully!
2. The design team is continuously adding projects to the Key Ingredients Gallery so make sure you check back often!

Reach for the stars!
Hey there! I thought I'd pop in to share a card I made with one of the new La-La Land Crafts stamps that debuted recently at CHA... Pilot Luka! For a limited time, you can purchase Pilot Luka (and friends) in digi! Just CLICK HERE.
Every time I see this image, I smile. Even better, when I showed it to my son Avery, HE smiled... and asked me print one off for him to color. I love that!
I paired Pilot Luka with patterned paper from the Campfire collection by October Afternoon. I also added a bit of white Fun Flock to give texture to his hat and coat trim. Mainly, this card is all about that adorable image!
In other news, I'm happy to report that I FINALLY finished putting away Christmas. Yep, it took me until today to finish. Unbelievable. Wait a minute... I suppose technically I'm not actually done until Snow Village is put away, but that has to wait until next weekend when Paul's around to help. He consoled me today by pointing out that technically it's still winter, so it's okay to have Snow Village still up. It's a theory anyway!
I'm working on a NEW project, something that I think is very exciting and I hope to share it with you all soon. I'm a methodical person, so getting Christmas put away is truly significant... it was holding me up. I seem to be the sort of person that has to have the desk cleared, so to speak, before going on to the next big project. Is this OCD? I hope not. Maybe a tad. :)
Thanks for stopping by to visit today! Have a la-la lovely day!

Tilda's Heart
A blessed Sunday to you! This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Our challenge this week at Stampin' Sisters in Christ is being hosted by our dear Miesje Flach. Miesje chose as her inspiration scripture 1 John 3:18 "Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." Her challenge is to make a card/project that uses no words on the front yet signifies love.
I hope you'll pop by the Stampin' Sisters in Christ blog to read Miesje's devotional and see the rest of the design team ladies' lovely cards. In fact, making the rounds to visit each blog will be a special blessing to you, I promise!
I'd like to expand a bit on what Miesje said. This past week I heard someone (yet again) complain of the hypocrisy of Christians. Although she didn't, too often folks like her will use that as a reason to turn away from Christianity and/or not attend church. This not only frustrates me, but makes me sad. It seems simple enough to explain that Christians... like everyone...are sinners. But that doesn't seem to be enough to change their minds. Usually the response is something to the effect that they have their own personal relationship with Christ and don't need to go to church or fellowship with Christians who are nothing but hypocrites anyway. Little do they know what spiritual nourishment they are missing because they've let the actions of others influence their feelings about what it means to be a Christian.
Folks, this is yet another reason it is so important that we not only profess ourselves as Christians by words, but also by deeds. It isn't to say we won't slip up... we are human, we are sinners by nature...but we need to try our best, not just for the sake of our own souls and relationship with Christ (after all, if you are a Christian, why would you not want to shine your light for Christ?), but also so that others will be drawn towards Him (and church). Don't be the example of the so-called hypocrisy that drives folks away! Reap the joys of keeping the laws of God. It truly makes life on earth so much easier. :)
For my card, I decided to play with this week's sketch at Unscripted Sketches. I'm also finally entering the monthly Magnolia Challenge at All That Scraps. The theme is "Queen of Hearts," so it goes perfectly with our SSIC challenge. Yes, I've finally succumbed to the allure of Magnolia stamps! lol
My card features Tilda With Heart paired with patterned paper from the Springtime Vintage collection by Stampin' Up. The flower in the middle is by Prima, but the two on either side are from the Vintage Flower Adornments collection by Stampin' Up. Very simple.
I hope you'll come along and play in this week's challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ. Our sponsor is Clear Dollar Stamps. Show us your LOVE cards!
I also want to encourage you to pop on over to my friend Kris Breach's blog and purchase a Crafting Grab Bag for $10 (postage included!). Kris is helping her sweet daughter with a fundraiser to attend The Revolve Tour with her Middle School Girl's Christian Youth Group... a very worthy cause for a very worthy young lady! And you'll get some awesome goodies in exchange. It's all good! I can't wait to receive mine!
Have a blessed day!

Peace!
Happy Saturday! It's time for the latest sketch challenge from Sketch Saturday!!!
It's Maya's turn to host our sketch challenge, and she's come up with a great sketch! Best of all, our sponsor this week is the sensational Tickled Pink Stamps!!! And my dear friend Debbie Pamment is Guest Designer for the month of February! I'm thrilled!!!
Naturally, I reached for a Tickled Pink Stamps image... the digi version of 60's Willow. I love rubber, but one nice thing about digis is that you can size them any way you want. In this case, I focused on Willow's upper half. She is one groovy girl! (60's Willow, as well as the rest of the Li'l Lolitas and Li'l Lads, is available in both rubber and digi.)
I have two tips for you today: (1) be very careful about tweaking the coloring of your image after it's done... I had taken great time and care coloring Willow and putting my card together, but for some crazy reason decided to touch up her hair a bit more rather than leave well enough alone. BIG mistake. I don't know if it was because I was tired or under pressure or both, but I tried SIX different times to recreate the look I had previously created, to no avail. I finally gave up, went to bed and tackled it again the next day. So frustrating! And (2) color the hardest part of the image first so that if you mess up you can start again without having wasted time coloring the easy parts. I live and learn. (sigh) But I'm happy with the way Willow finally came together. The Li'l Lolita and Li'l Lads images are such fun!
Be sure to pop by the Sketch Saturday blog to see what the rest of the lovely design team members have created with this week's sketch! And do join us!
I'll be back soon with more! By the way, there is still a bit more time to win Star Boy Luka by La-La Land Crafts in my little blog candy... scroll down or click here!

Blog Candy!
Oops, I forgot to add the info about my little blog candy opportunity to my last post before publishing, so for those of you on RSS feed or email, click HERE to add a comment for a chance to win Star Boy Luka!
Exciting News from La-La Land Crafts!
As many of you know, I had the pleasure of attending CHA this year and helping with make-and-takes in the La-La Land Crafts booth. LLLC was a new exhibitor at CHA and got LOTS of lovely attention and excitement over the new Marci and Luka images. The ladies (and even a few gents) had a blast with the make-and-takes.I've CASEd one of the four today... I had sweet Capri Marci already colored up, so it took just a few minutes to put the card together.
Capri Marci is one of SEVEN new stamps that debuted at CHA. For a limited time, you can purchase the new releases as digis!!!
Aren't they wonderful? Let me tell you, it's good times at La-La Land Crafts!!! If you prefer rubber, you won't have to wait much longer... it will be available in about three weeks!
I'll leave you with a funny picture from CHA... this was taken just before the show opened on Sunday. That's Irina and Kim Yu on the right, and the back of Renate (one of our volunteers) on the right. Irina is pretending to show them the make-and-take for the day. (*grin*)
Now off you go to shop for your digis! Have fun in La-La Land!

Edited to add: Oops, I almost forgot the best part! I discovered I have an extra Star Boy Luka, so I'm giving one away to one lucky gal (or guy) who leaves a comment on this post! I'll keep the blog candy open until Sunday night (Feb 6) at 11:59 pm Pacific and announce the winner on Monday!
