Happy Mother's Day! As I said on the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge blog, whether you are being celebrated or are celebrating someone else... or both... I hope you have a blessed day! My own dear mother is in Heaven, watching over me and my family. I feel comforted knowing that, although I still miss her very much. I'm counting on being reunited with her some day, as God has promised!
In the meantime, Happy Mother's Day to my mother-in-law Jo and my step-mother Wanda!!! I love you both!!! And, of course, to all my friends who are mothers!
Our hostess for this week's challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ is Lovely Linda Lucas, who chose the scripture John 4:23 "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." The challenge is to use the colors blue, brown and white in your cards/projects.
I sorted through my paper stash and found this retired DP from Stampin Up, which is a mix of exactly those three colors... lucky! And I reached for my Asian Gardens stamp set, one of the new releases from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I love love love this set! It's so easy to put a beautiful card together in no time using Claire's wonderful stamps.
The sketch is from Card Patterns... definitely one I'll use again. Love it!
Speaking of my mother... as some of you know, I grew up as the daughter of a career Air Force officer. My dad was a helicopter pilot. We were stationed for awhile at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. My youngest sister was born there.
Anyway, at some point during our time in the Philippines, my parents traveled to Hong Kong and bought a bunch of rosewood furniture and pieces of art. Apparently, they both loved what was then known as the "oriental" look. I'm the proud owner of many of those pieces. I think it surprises some people to walk into my house and see the Asian look of my formal living room, but every time I look in there and at the items in the curio cabinet, it takes me back to my childhood... and reminds me of my dear mother. What a wonderful legacy... one I will pass to my own children someday.
Thanks for stopping by! For those who are wondering, yes, I've been fairly preoccupied with a lot of "stuff" going on in my personal life for awhile now, and I sincerely apologize for not getting around to visit some of you in much too long. Please bear with me! I'm getting things sorted out and trying to find a new rhythm to my life. In the meantime, thanks for hanging in there with me, for your prayers and good wishes. They mean everything to me! {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}

Such a lovely card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sketch for your card! I didn't know that you had that time in the Phillippines, such a fascinating experience! And as far as finding a new rhythm when life throws you a curve . . . for me it usually takes at least a year. Still praying. :) And you were such a good girl, you stuck strictly to the challenge colors, no peep of green for you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful card, just adore the flower. Hope that what every you are facing at the moment will pass. Blessings. Anesha
