Happy Sunday everyone! It's time for another fabulous challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ. Our hostess this week is Peggysue Turner. Love that girl (and her name!). She and I have lots in common, including a quirky sense of humor. She's not only a talented paper crafter, but a wonderful writer with a Godly spirit.
The scripture Peggysue chose for our challenge is 1 Corinthians 13:12 (King James Version): "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." The challenge is to make a shadow box card. I'd never tried one before, and found that it's fun! Links to two tutorials for making shadow box cards are on the SSCC blog.
In thinking about this scripture, I'm struck by all we do not know about God. Yes, we have the Bible to tell us a great deal, but there is still so much more that we do not know. For example, the notion that God is in control of our lives and has plans for us for good...but does that mean He causes the bad things to happen? I prefer to think not. I cannot imagine a God so cruel. And what about all those who don't know Him? What happens when they die? And does God really forgive people who have done truly vile things while on earth? And do we really see all our loved ones in Heaven? And what is Heaven like? Are we the same age there as we are on earth? And on we go. Questions, questions, questions.
Lots of scholars and lay people opine on these subjects, but none of us really knows for sure. We will have to wait until the day comes that all is revealed to us. That's what I think this scripture is telling us... to trust, have faith and be patient... for just as He knows us intimately, we will someday know Him just as well.
Our sponsor this week is Layers of Color Art Stamps. This is a new company, and let me say I'm loving the unique designs! The owner/designer Laura Campbell so very generously treated me, Kathy and Kristine to one of the newest releases, Butterfly Collector, to sample for this week's challenge. LOVE*LOVE*LOVE! Thank you Laura! One lucky gal who plays in this week's challenge will win a set of her own. So what are you waiting for???
In addition to Butterfly Collector, I used Borders & Corners Circles from Papertrey Ink, Something Within from Unity, and Off Beat Backgrounds from Waltzingmouse Stamps. It's fun to be able to combine stamps for one great look.
The DP is from the Earth Love collection by Cosmo Cricket. I'm sorry the photo quality isn't the best. I had a hard time taking the picture so that the interior wasn't too shadowy. It really is much nicer IRL. I definitely want to try this technique again.
Be sure to stop by the SSCC blog to see what my design team sisters have come up with for your inspiration and viewing pleasure.
As always, I thank you for visiting and sharing with me today. I pray your day will be filled with sunshine and many blessings!
Gorgeous card, Lisa! Great job on your shadowbox! Love the verse for this week - you girls always give me food for thought for the week. Thanks Peggysue! (You know I'm going to be singing that song all day now!!!) Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteOh Lisa,
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgoeous card.
Love the look now have to go try the technique.
Lisa this is so pretty, Hug Cindy
ReplyDeleteWhat a very pretty card, Lisa. I just treated myself to Laura's new butterfly sets. I can't wait to get them.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully put Lisa! And what a gorgeous card too. Very natural looking... love these colors, they're warm and inviting. Seeing the stitching marks reminded me that I've had some of that stiching tape for a couple of years now that I've never used! LOL bottom of a drawer... came across it the other day. Thanks for the reminder!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour thoughts about this verse were some of my thoughts too. It will be wonderful to finally "just know" all those things we wonder about. What's even more wonderful to me though is to try to fathom that God knows every single detail of our being and loves us anyway. Many times we feel (or at least I do) that even my own husband doesn't know or understand me as well as I WANT him to... but there IS someone who does. And to be quiet and still and wrap that thought around my brain is very humbling and comforting. Oh, I should just start a blog why don't I? LOL! Oh ya, I DO have one, why am I saying all this HERE?? LOL - you know me, ramble ramble. Luv ya Lis! Have a SUPER time tomorrow night... I'm just a tad (okay A LOT) jealous! Will you Give them both double Hugs--one from ME? PLEEEEAAASE! :)
What a beautiful card Lisa! Have a super time tomorrow:)
ReplyDeleteOh my, what warmth and love that shines from your card, Lisa! How beautiful! It reminds me of God's light shining through us when we seek His face and live as a disciple. A marvelous way to glorify God, Lisa!
ReplyDeleteYour new stamps are waiting for the postman to whisk them off to you! Thank you for your support, Lisa! I look forward to seeing more of your lovely and thought provoking cards!
Hugs!
awww, how pretty!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow...it is so bright and fun! But, I especially love the way you stitched along the edges. That adds a nice touch. Great job! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLisa Your card is breathtaking. I love the verse. Your FOF and TE card are so perfect. How you get so many cads done in a week is astounding to me. You are my idol!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color is yellow, so this has to be one of my favorite project along the way! It's gorgeous. Thank you for the inspiration of another wonderful project. Thank you, too, for joining this blog hop and sharing your talent with us and your love of the Lord. Hugs and blessings, Helen
ReplyDeleteThat yellow is lovely with the butterfly. And your thoughts are so pertinent to that verse too, all the things we all wonder and don't have an answer yet. But some day we will. Great combination of stamp sets and yes, it is difficult to take a picture that really shows the interior of the shadowbox well.
ReplyDeleteNow I have to read down and be nosy and see why Kristine is jealous and who it is you get to meet . . .
Such prety colors the shiny, butterfly and the perfect Scripture. Very nice. :)
ReplyDeleteLisa, this is a beautifully executed shadowbax card. The colors are unique and very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa... What an amazing card!!!! So warm, sweet, fantastic just like you... :) LOVE the sentiment and butterfly... makes me want to pull out my nature sets!
ReplyDeleteThis weekend was a blast at the stamping retreat and so much GREAT food to boot, I think I added an 1" on my hips... ha! Will e-mail you soon... SMILES! And warm Minnesota hugs... or cold hands! :)
I love your card! The paper, the colors, the stamps used and just everything! That verse is a wonderful reminder where we are to turn when we're feeling week or helpless. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
